Cardiff indie- poppers Los Campesinos! have returned with the first cut to emerge from their upcoming 5th full- length "No Blues", titled "What Death Leaves Behind." Glacial, epic synths kick off proceedings in a decidedly more electronic direction for the band. Before long robust drums, sturdy but not overbearing riffing and the band's trademark plentiful instrumentation join the foray. Frontman Gareth Campesinos! is still at his metaphorical, self- destructively humorous best lyrically. "I was the first match struck at the first cremation" he begins before delving between themes of mortality, anxiety and spiritualism. "What Death Leaves Behind" is a typically illustrious, soaring, life- affirming affair.
